Compliance and ethics

At AMP, we firmly believe that medical ethics and regulatory compliance play a crucial role in enabling legitimate interaction between medical professionals and the healthcare industry for the benefit of patients. We relieve the administrative burden of regulatory compliance for our clients to allow for ethical interaction without the risk of reputational damage.

Whether to ensure that new medications and devices are administered correctly or to direct research and development toward the areas of greatest patient need, it is essential that medical professionals share data and experience with the healthcare industry and vice versa. Medical conferences provide an ideal forum for this type of interaction.

Although these interactions are indispensable and can play a positive role in improving the quality of patient treatment, it is crucial that the highest standards of medical ethics are observed at all times. This means that the potential for conflicts of interest and reputational damage must be recognised by all parties. For this reason, AMP believes that medical ethics and regulatory compliance are key areas of importance for all healthcare firms which provide funding for medical conferences.

In order to fund a medical conference, healthcare firms have to coordinate compliance with numerous codes of conduct in multiple national jurisdictions. For example, in order to fund a conference in Europe, a sponsoring firm may need to ensure compliance with four different codes of conduct simultaneously. AMP ensures compliance with all applicable national and international regulations including:

  • EU Directive 2001/83/CE
  • pharmaceutical code – the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) Healthcare Professional’s (HCP) Code
  • national codes of EFPIA members
  • MedTech code – The Eucomed Code of Ethical Business Practice
  • The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices
  • European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) accreditation for Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits
