Luisa Marques worked for many years at Viagens Abreu Lda., the largest travel agency in Portugal. She worked initially in the outgoing department and shortly after she was transferred to the incoming department where she specialised in the organisation of congresses and special events.

In 1994, she founded Meeting Point Ltd. with 2 former colleagues, being recognised as “PME Líder 2012” (The “PME Líder” label distinguishes Portugal’s best SMEs), and was appointed as one of the 5 best PCOs (Professional Congress Organisers) in 2012. The organisation of pharmaceutical-related congresses accounts for most of the business.

Luisa Marques first enrolled at the University of Lisbon to study modern languages and literature, but one year later she realised her true calling was in the tourism industry, so she took a degree in tourism at the INP – Instituto Superior de Novas Profissões in Lisbon.
